Nobody Should Stress
Over Dental Visits

Too many people dread going to the dentist because they’re afraid of high costs, feeling uncomfortable, or due to having a bad past experience.

Do you find yourself stressing over…

Frequently Asked Questions about Periodontics Dentistry

Periodontists in Long Beach treat gum disease (gingivitis and periodontitis), oral inflammation, bone loss around teeth, and complications related to dental implants. They also manage advanced periodontal cases that require specialized care beyond general dentistry.

Signs you may need periodontal care include:

  • Bleeding or swollen gums

  • Persistent bad breath

  • Receding gums or loose teeth

  • Pain while chewing
If you notice any of these symptoms, schedule an evaluation with a Long Beach periodontist.

Common treatments include:

  • Scaling and root planing (deep cleaning)

  • Gum graft surgery

  • Periodontal maintenance therapy

  • Dental implant placement

  • Laser gum treatments
Your periodontist will recommend the best treatment based on your condition and oral health goals.

Patients with healthy gums may only need a periodontal check-up once a year, while those with gum disease or a history of periodontal problems might require more frequent visits—typically every 3 to 4 months.

Most periodontal procedures are performed under local anesthesia, ensuring minimal discomfort. Your Long Beach periodontist may also offer sedation options for more advanced treatments to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
